An Increase in Water Consumption Does Not Mean a Decrease in Flavor

How have people maintained flavor consumption with so much water being consumed?

The answer is simple: flavored water. People have always been able to infuse their water at home with refreshing ingredients. And as we enter the hot summer months across the country, who wouldn’t enjoy Pineapple Mint, Cucumber Lemon or Ginger Mint-flavored water? But who has the time to make flavored water from scratch?

Luckily, the growing trend of flavored water consumption has brought with it a multitude of fast, easy, and more importantly, delicious products.  Several companies have recently introduced products that allow consumers to add a quick squeeze of flavor to their bottled or tap water.  If you’d rather buy your water already flavored, there are a plethora of brands bottling up the flavor from the start.

What are some of the innovative flavor combinations that water enhancers offer?

Every brand has their own array of flavors offered, and there are definitely some innovative and popular flavor combinations that help to make water more exciting. These include:

  • Cherry Pomegranate
  • Pineapple Coconut
  • Strawberry Kiwi
  • Honeydew Hibiscus

Other flavors like blueberry lemonade, mango peach, and strawberry watermelon also allow consumers to spice up their summer beverage.

If water sales are increasing, what’s happening to other beverage sales?

There is a growing emphasis on health and fitness, especially as we enter beach season, and people are looking for alternatives to their favorite beverages. The beverage industry recently reported that beverage sales of carbonated soft drinks fell 1.2 percent in 2012. And it is not just soft drinks that have seen a decrease in sales. Energy drinks have experienced a sharp decrease in sales as well.

Beverage industry experts predict the market for water will keep increasing as people continue to look for alternatives to other beverages. Beverage companies have capitalized on people’s desire to drink more water without giving up the flavors they love. And now, as summer gets into full swing, consumers can stay hydrated with healthy H2O while enjoying their favorite flavors.

Are you consuming more water than you have in the past? Have you enjoyed flavored water recently? Did you know water sales have increased? Your comments are most welcome below.
